Some day I’m going to wear a tailored suit. But I’m about 30 pounds away from that being a reality.

You spelled “Mercedes” wrong.

Mercedes having influence over the government =/= Mercedes having the same power as or being synonymous with the government

If left to their own devices, the government would not have passed the Motor Vehicle Safety Compliance Act. It is completely Mercedes’ fault.
Also, looking back at your post, it’s not the government’s fault either. If Audi wanted to sell the RS6 Avant here they could, they just need to send the engine for emission testing and send the A6 Avant for crash testing. But they won’t. Because they’re German and evil.

The government will never be ‘left to its own devices’. It will always bend to the will of some kind of influence somewhere. It’s unreasonable to pretend we can have a world where luxury auto makers gain global prominence and marketshare without the world where they use those very tools to protect the lucrative business models they’ve constructed because every industry tries to do that. That world were Mercedes doesn’t also try this is one where it is not run by human beings.
Also, looking back at your post, it’s not the government’s fault either.
If you want to buy one right now, you can’t. Audi can’t be faulted for being unwilling to sell an unmarketable product here, but an individual with the means could still import one on their own. If you try that though, it is the government that will sent enforcement agents to collect and destroy your property. Mercedes may have influenced legislation to protect their business model here in the US, but it is the government’s choice to 1) Review and revise the legislation or 2) refuse to enforce. They have done neither. So, they are at fault.

The fact that you site behind (in front?) of you computer and pine longingly for an RS6 means it is a marketable car in the US.
Still, it is a shame that you cannot use your money to procure one for your own enjoyment in the US.
